Pepper the Dancing Squirrel

Bellow is one of the stories I have been working on. It's a children's story and is called, Pepper the Dancing Squirrel, and according to all my roommates and friends who have read it, it is pretty good. So enjoy!
P.S. The numbers are supposed to correspond with page numbers in a book. I have a friend who might be able to illustrate this for me and I am pretty excited about that.

Pepper, the Dancing Squirrel
By: Carine Johnson

1. There once was a very nice squirrel named Pepper. Pepper was like any other squirrel. She had brown grey fur, a bushy tale, and she lived in a very nice and leafy tree. One day, completely by accident, Pepper started dancing.
2. She found that if she turned really fast, she could look very graceful. Or if she pointed her toes while jumping from tree to tree and branch to branch, she would feel very elegant. Or if she walked stylishly across all branches, she would look quite fabulous.
3. Now, it was common knowledge throughout the whole world that squirrels were not supposed to dance. They could scurry and jump from branch to branch, but dancing was simply unheard of.
4. Pepper was not discouraged though. She adored dancing, and nothing could every make her stop. She was happy to scurry about and jump about and gather her nuts all while dancing gracefully, elegantly and fabulously.
6. All the other squirrels thought that Pepper was strange and they stopped playing with her and speaking to her. Squirrels were not supposed to dance!
7. Pepper did not understand. She had not done anything terribly wrong. She had simply been dancing and having fun. Now all her friends didn’t like her anymore.
8. Pepper wanted to have friends and she wanted to play with the other squirrels again, so she decided to stop dancing. All her friends started talking to her. All the adult squirrels and kid squirrels were happy that she was acting like a normal squirrel again.
9. Pepper wasn’t happy though, even with all her squirrel friends back. She wanted to dance but, if she did, she would not longer have any friends. Pepper had a choice to make.
10.  One day while scurry across the tree branches and feeling very sad, Pepper saw something completely wonderful and fantastic. There in the sky twilling and diving was Edgar the majestic bald eagle. Pepper was in awe; she had never seeing anything so beautiful. Edgar was dancing.
12. When Edgar saw that Pepper was watching him, he stopped on her branch to say hi. Edgar saw that Pepper looked very sad. Edgar asked Pepper what was wrong. Pepper looked at him and told that she wanted to dance and be graceful and elegant and fabulous. But she couldn’t dance. Squirrels were not supposed to dance.
13. Edgar nodded at Pepper as if he understood. He told her that eagles were not supposed to dance either, and that all his eagle friends that he was weird at first, but then they got used to him. Now all the other eagles were twilling and diving and looking majestic.
14. Edgar told her that she to be herself and eventually, her squirrel friends would start liking her again. Some of them might even start dancing with you Edgar told her. Pepper was skeptical at first, but she loved dancing so much that she decided to try being herself. So Pepper started dancing again. And all her friends stopped talking to her again. But it was okay this time, because she really liked to dance.
15. Then one day while she was out dancing from branch to branch and tree to tree, one of her squirrel friends came up and talked to her. His name was Timmy. Timmy asked if she wanted to play with the other squirrels. Pepper said yes and was so happy. So for the whole day, she danced and played with all her friends. Some of them even joined her.
16. Edgar the eagle had been right. By being herself, she was able to keep dancing and keep playing with all friends. From that day forward the whole world knew that squirrels could dance and could look graceful, elegant and fabulous doing it.
The End
